Samuel Alexander Hazlett

Lance Corporal Samuel Alexander Hazlett of Portadown, Co. Armagh served in the Canadian Infantry Corps during the Second World War. He died on 13th April 1945.

Lance Corporal Samuel Alexander Hazlett (B/159256) served in the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, Canadian Infantry Corps during the Second World War. He was the son of the late Private Henry Hazlett (Royal Engineers, killed in action on 1st March 1917 in Belgium) and Margaret Jane Reavey (formerly Hazlett) of 15 Fowler’s Entry, Portadown, Co. Armagh.

Lance Corporal Hazlett died of wounds on 13th April 1945 aged 34 years old. His grave is in Section IX, Row E, Grave 15 of Holten Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands. In 2018, his name was a new addition to the Portadown War Memorial, Portadown, Co. Armagh. His headstone bears the inscription:

Though the seas our hearts divide in spirit you are by my side. We’ll meet again.
