Gunner William John Stanfield (880709) served in 107th Field Regiment (South Nottinghamshire Hussars Yeomanry), Royal Artillery during the Second World War. He was the son of Thomas Edward Stanfield and Mary Jane Stanfield of Portadown, Co. Armagh.

Gunner Stanfield died on 27th May 1942 aged 22 years old during the Battle of Knightsbridge. He has no known grave and his name is on Column 14 of the Alamein Memorial, Egypt. His name is commemorated on a family headstone in Seagoe Church of Ireland Churchyard, Portadown, Co. Armagh. His name is also on the Portadown War Memorial and the Seagoe Church of Ireland War Memorial, Portadown, Co. Armagh.
