Patrick Grimley

Lance Corporal Patrick Grimley of Portadown, Co. Armagh served in the Corps of Military Police. He was a prisoner of war on the ill-fated S.S Scillin in 1942.

Lance Corporal Patrick Grimley (3853199) served in 115 Provost Company, Corps of Military Police during the Second World War. He was the son of Patrick Grimley and Bella Grimley of Portadown, Co. Armagh.

Lance Corporal Grimley died on 14th November 1942 aged 35 years old. He was a prisoner of war, departing from Tripoli, Libya to Sicily on S.S. Scillin when it controversially came under attack from H.M. Submarine Sahib. He has no known grave and his name is on Column 83 of the Alamein Memorial, Egypt. His name is also on the Portadown War Memorial, Portadown, Co. Armagh.
