Grand Central Hotel once stood on Royal Avenue. During the Second World War, the hotel hosted military guests such as Lieutenant General Alan Gordon Cunningham.
During December 1942, M. Jan Masaryk, Deputy Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia spoke at the Grand Central Hotel, Belfast where he condemned the Munich Agreement.
On 14th February 1944, the original Grand Central Hotel, Belfast hosted the first council meeting of the "Salute The Soldier Campaign" in Northern Ireland.
