On 4th March 1944, Martin B-26B Marauder #41-34893 crashed shortly after take-off from Maghaberry Airfield, Co. Antrim. At the time, the airfield in Northern Ireland operated at U.S.A.A.F. Station 239.
Three members of 311th Ferry Squadron, 27th Air Transport Group, United States Army Air Force died as a result of the incident. They were pilot Burl Lee Creech, engineer Mario Jack Agnese, and passenger Henry Irvin Beall.
Authorities declared the Marauder written off, damaged beyond repair. A mechanical failure in one of the engines was the cause of the American plane’s fate.
