In February 1942, 63rd Signal Battalion, U.S. Army took over Sunnylands Camp in Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim from the British Army 1/5th Leicestershire Battalion.
On 2nd February 1942, War Office photographer Lieutenant J.R. Bainbridge visited Sunnylands Camp at Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim. There, members of 1/5th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment were handing over to 63rd Signal Battalion of the U.S. Army.
