Northern Ireland Base Section, redesignated from Northern Ireland Base Command in July 1942, operated from Wilmont House and Ballydrain, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim.

On 20th June 1942, Service of Supply, United States Army European Theater of Operations announced a regional restructure. This subordinate organisation included Northern Ireland Base Section under the command of Brigadier Leroy P. Collins at Wilmont House, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim.
Following the deployment of many American troops to North Africa, the U.S. Army deactivated Northern Ireland Base Section on 20th December 1942. The overseeing of American activity in Ulster once again returned to Northern Ireland District of the Western Base Section, European Theater of Operations, Service of Supply.
On 5th October 1943, Brigadier Leroy P. Collins once again took command of the reactivated Northern Ireland Base Section (General Orders 1, Northern Ireland Base Section, 5th October 1943). Later that day, initial staff were assigned. (General Orders 3, Northern Ireland Base Section, 5th October 1943).
The newly reactivated Northern Ireland Base Section set up headquarters at Ballydrain House, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim. This location was the headquarters for all Supply Services.
