Robert Belshaw

Robert Belshaw was a popular butcher living and working at 56 Shankill Road, Belfast when the Luftwaffe bombed the neighbourhood on 15th-16th April 1941.

Civilian Robert Belshaw was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his wife Rebecca Belshaw at 56 Shankill Road, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

The couple ran a Butcher’s Shop and on 18th April 1941, days after the raid, Rebecca Belshaw was advising customers where they could continue to pick up their supplies. Robert Belshaw died on 16th April 1941 aged 43 years old at 56 Shankill Road, Belfast. Robert Belshaw’s grave is in Section B1, Grave 4 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. A funeral service took place at 1530hrs on 20th April 1941 from Messrs. Thomas Johnston’s Rest Room, 43 Bedford Street, Belfast.
