John Beaulieu, Eleanor Beaulieu, and Mary Beaulieu all with given addresses at Blaris, Lisburn were among the many passengers to board S.S. Athenia in Belfast.

John Beaulieu departed from Belfast on the ill-fated S.S. Athenia on 1st September 1939 with his mother Mary Beaulieu and sister Eleanor Beaulieu. His address given on boarding documents was Blaris, Lisburn, Co. Antrim and he appeared under a list of American and Canadian residents sailing in Third Class.

John, a 6 year old scholar, survived the sinking and landed with his mother, sister, and fellow survivors on board the Norwegian steamer Knut Nelson at Galway, Ireland on 5th September 1939.
