During the Second World War, the Australian Army was the largest of the country's services. Among the ranks were many with connections to Northern Ireland.

Private Patrick Brown of Derry~Londonderry emigrated to Australia where he enlisted in the infantry on 18th June 1940. He died on 5th April 1941 in Libya.

Private William Fitzgerald died on 1st November 1942. Although born in Ballymena, Co. Antrim, he served in the Australian Infantry during the Second World War.
