In 1944, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe visited Bangor, Co. Down addressing military personnel.
Photographs of Eisenhower Pier in Bangor taken in April 2022 show additions of photographs and information made to the mosaic murals in 2019 to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Leading up to the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings in 2014, we visited the Eisenhower Pier in Bangor, Co. Down. From there, claimed Eisenhower, began the "long, hard march to Allied victory".
