On 5th May 1941, during the Fire Raid of the Belfast Blitz, incendiary bombs fell causing fires on Allworthy Avenue off the Antrim Road in North Belfast.
At 0142hrs on 5th May 1941, D District Report Centre received a message requesting a fire service crew to attend at 6 Allworthy Avenue, Belfast. The message ended “stirrup pump no more”. A further request at 0145hrs requested a couple of men to deal with the fire.
