William John Braniff

A.R.P. Warden William John Braniff died in the Mater Infirmorum, Belfast after sustaining injuries at Alliance Road during the Fire Raid of the Belfast Blitz.

A.R.P. Warden William John Braniff was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived at 130 Alliance Parade and volunteered at A.R.P. Post 217 at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

He was the son of Agnes Braniff and the late David Braniff. William John Braniff died on 5th May 1941 aged 18 years old at Mater Infirmorum Hospital, Belfast. He sustained injuries on 5th May 1941 at Alliance Road, Belfast. William John Braniff’s grave is in Carnmoney Cemetery, Carnmoney, Co. Antrim. A funeral service took place at 1430hrs on 7th May 1941 from 130 Alliance Parade, Belfast.
