Royal Ulster Constabulary Detective Sergeant Robert J. Wilson was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his wife Mary Edith Wilson, and daughters Edith Wilson and Dorothy Wilson at 35 Glantane Street, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

Robert J. Wilson died on 5th May 1941 aged 42 years old at 35 Glantane Street, Belfast. At around 0440hrs, D District Control Centre received a message from the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

Enquire at Queen Street R.U.C. Did Detective Sergeant Wilson report there tonight? His house in Glantane Street is demolished. Rescue squad working at house in case he is there. Ambulance standing by.

At around 0800hrs on 5th May 1941, another message arrived at D District Control Centre. This one, dispatched by a soldier simply requested a mortuary service be sent to Glantane Street.

Detective Sergeant Robert J. Wilson’s grave is in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, along with daughters Edith Wilson and Dorothy Wilson. The joint funeral service took place on 8th May 1941.
