Sub-Lieutenant James Patrick Salmon served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He was the son of Alfred Salmon and Kathleen Salmon of Derry~Londonderry.

Sub-Lieutenant Salmon died as a result of a road traffic collision in Singapore on 4th October 1943 aged 24 years old while serving on H.M.L.C.T. 440. He has no known grave and his name is on Panel 90, Column 2 of the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire, England.
