Stoker 1st Class Murphy died on 14th October 1939 aged 20 years old while serving on H.M.S. Royal Oak. He has no known grave and his name is on Panel 35, Column 2 of the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.
