During the Second World War, squadrons of the Royal Australian Air Force operated from Britain, first formed under Article XV of the Empire Air Training Scheme.

R.A.A.F. 460 Squadron formed from C Flight of R.A.A.F. 458 Squadron at R.A.F. Molesworth, Huntingdonshire, England in 1941. Ulster-born men served in its crews.
