Robert Bennett

Robert Bennett and his wife Catherine Bennett both died on 16th April 1941 following the Luftwaffe attack over Greencastle, north of the city of Belfast.


Civilian Robert Bennett was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his wife Catherine Bennett at 21 Serpentine Road, Greencastle, Co. Antrim at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

Robert Bennett died on 16th April 1941 aged 66 years old. Commonwealth War Graves Commission casualty lists suggest his place of death was Mater Infirmorum Hospital, Belfast. However, Belfast City Council burial records indicate he may have died at Union Infirmary, Belfast. He sustained injuries on 16th April 1941 at 21 Serpentine Road, Greencastle, Co. Antrim. Robert Bennett’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Action T1, Grave 207 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast. A funeral service took place on 20th April 1941.
