Civilian Mary Jane Close was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. She lived with her husband William Close Sr., and son Albert Close at 35 Westbourne Street, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.
She was the mother of William Close Jr. of 21 Westbourne Street, Belfast. Mary Jane Close died on 5th May 1941 aged 58 years old at 24th (London) General Hospital, Campbell College, Belfast. She sustained injuries on 5th May 1941 at 35 Westbourne Street, Belfast. Mary Jane Close’s grave is with her son Albert Close in Section F2, Grave 83 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. A funeral service took place on 10th May 1941.
