Civilian Margaret Christy was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. She lived with her husband James Christy, and daughter Margaret Sylvia Christy at 17 Hogarth Street, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.
Born on 8th January 1913, she was the daughter of William James Boyles and Thomasena Boyles (née Stewart) of 137 Shore Road, Belfast. Margaret and James married in Belfast on 3rd July 1935. Margaret Christy died on 16th April 1941 aged 28 years old at Hogarth Street, Belfast. The family name is spelled “Christie” in the Belfast Telegraph issued on 18th April 1941. Margaret Christy’s grave is in Carnmoney Cemetery, Carnmoney, Co. Antrim. A funeral service took place at 1000hrs on 19th April 1941 from 30 Fortwilliam Crescent, Belfast.
