John Esdale

Civilian John Esdale was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his wife Sarah Esdale at 41 Bristol Street, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

He was the son of the late James Esdale and the late Margaret Esdale of Stranngard, Desertmartin, Co. Londonderry. John Esdale died on 8th April 1941 aged 72 years old at Harland and Wolff Ltd., Queen’s Road, Belfast.

The Belfast News-Letter published on 10th April 1941 lists John’s surname as “Eskdale”.
