Gunner Ernest Buller (1468868) served in 21st Battery, 8th (Belfast) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery during the Second World War. He was the son of Thomas Buller and Mary Jane Buller of Belfast.

Gunner Buller died on 8th February 1944 aged 30 years old. On this day, Japanese troops placed heavy fire with shells and mortars on the position of 21st Battery. 8th (Belfast) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment provided valuable support for XV Corps during what became known as the Battle of the Admin Box during the Second Arakan battle in Burma.

Gunner Buller’s grave is in Section 5, Row B, Grave 5 of Taukkyan War Cemetery, Myanmar. His headstone bears the inscription:

The strife is o’er, the battle done. He answered the last roll call.
