Gunner Hugh Joseph Curran (1598838) served in 390th Battery, 27th Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery during the Second World War. He was the son of James Curran and Fanny Curran of Knockmacmanus, Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh.

Gunner Curran died on 4th January 1942 aged 22 years old. His grave is in Section 1, Row A, Grave 17 of Hadra War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, Egypt. His name is on the war memorial in Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh and his headstone in Egypt bears the inscription:

Pray for the soul of Hugh. R.I.P.
