Private William Henry Cottingham (T/58581) served in the Royal Army Service Corps during the Second World War. Known as Billy, he was the son of William Skinner Cottingham and Harriet Cottingham, and the husband of Gladys Rose Cottingham of West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England. The couple had five children; Reg, John, Gerald, Brenda, and Maureen.

Private Cottingham died on 30th November 1941 aged 41 years old after a short illness. His grave is in St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland Churchyard, Kilrea, Co. Londonderry. His headstone bears the inscription:

Rest eternal grant him after weary fight.
