Fusilier Samuel Burke (6982708) served in 70th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers during the Second World War. He was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz. He was the son of George Burke and Annie Burke of Braehead, Derry/Londonderry. Samuel Burke died on 16th April 1941 aged 18 years old at Newtownards Airfield, Newtownards, Co. Down.
His grave is in Section S, Class B, Grave 1218 of Derry City Cemetery, Derry/Londonderry. His headstone bears the inscription:
Thy purpose, Lord, we cannot see but all if well that’s done by Thee.
