Serjeant Francis Girr M.M. (6976967) served in 6th Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers during the Second World War. He was the son of Matthew Girr and Mary A. Girl of Omagh, Co. Tyrone, and the husband of Kathleen Girr of Omagh, Co. Tyrone.

Serjeant Girr died on 1st June 1944 aged 29 years old. His grave is in Section VII, Row H, Grave 12 of Cassino War Cemetery, Italy. His headstone bears the inscription:

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on the soul of my brave husband Francis. Always remembered. Kathleen.
