Lieutenant John Terence Moore McFadden (105619) served in 1st Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. Born on 26th January 1916, he was the son of Dr. Arthur William James McFadden C.B., M.B. and Alice Bristow McFadden (née Spence) of Belfast.
In civilian life, John McFadden attended Campbell College, Belfast where he played rugby. On leaving school, he worked for Prudential Insurance Service before enlisting in the Artists Rifles and transferring to the airborne 1st Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles.
Lieutenant McFadden died on 4th October 1944 aged 28 years old as a result of an illness. At the time, he was a prisoner of war at Camp XIB, Bad Fallingbostel, Lower Saxony, Germany. His grave is in Section 15, Row F, Grave 6 of Hanover War Cemetery, Germany.
