Fusilier Ivan Philips of Lisburn, Co. Antrim died on 10th January 1943 as C Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers engaged the enemy in Burma.

Fusilier Ivan Phillips (6979364) served in 1st Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers during the Second World War. He was the son of John Phillips and Martha Phillips of Lisburn, Co. Antrim.

Fusilier Phillips died on 10th January 1943 aged 20 years old. At this time C Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers had engaged the enemy on an advance in the Donbaik area during the Arakan Campaign in Burma.

Fusilier Philips’ grave is in Section 11, Row J, Grave 3 of Taukkyan War Cemetery, Myanmar. His headstone bears the inscription:

Far from his native land he sleeps. Peace, perfect peace.
