The Army Dental Corps operated in all theatres of war during the Second World War. Units operated in Northern Ireland providing care for those based in Ulster.
British Army
While elements of the British Army served in Northern Ireland, No. 21 Mobile Dental Unit catered to their dentistry needs, travelling from base to base.
On 5th August 1942, No. 22 Mobile Dental Unit parked in the garden of a large house in Ballycastle, Co. Antrim from where it catered to the needs of soldiers.
On 3rd December 1943, British soldiers underwent treatment in a converted motor coach serving as a Mobile Dental Unit at Thiepval Barracks, Lisburn, Co. Antrim.
