William Cathcart

Rifleman William Cathcart served with 2nd Battalion London Irish Rifles during World War Two. He died while fighting in Sicily with the Irish Brigade in August 1943.

Rifleman William Cathcart (7018987) served with the 2nd Battalion London Irish Rifles during World War Two.

He was the son of William Cathcart and Margaret Stewart Cathcart of Kells, Co. Antrim. William died in Sicily on 5th August 1943.

William Cathcart’s grave is in Section III, Row F, Grave 29 of the Catania War Cemetery in Sicily, Italy. His headstone bears the inscription “blessed are the pure in heart”.
