William Cathcart Barr

William Cathcart Barr died as a result of bombing on York Road, Belfast. As too did parents James Alexander Barr and Jeannie Barr, and sister Elizabeth Barr.

Civilian William Cathcart Barr was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his parents James Alexander Barr and Jeannie Barr, and sister Elizabeth Barr at 74 York Road, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

William Cathcart Barr died on 16th April 1941 aged 32 years old. Commonwealth War Graves information suggests he died at 74 York Road, Belfast. However, a report in the Ballymena Weekly Telegraph from 26th April 1941 implies he died in hospital following the raid. William Cathcart Barr’s grave is in Connor New Cemetery, Kells, Co. Antrim. A funeral service took place on 23rd April 1941.
