Samuel Hoy Gowan was a Firewatcher at Pollock Dock during the Luftwaffe's Docks Raid on the night of 7th-8th April 1941.

Firewatcher Samuel Hoy Gowan worked at Pollock Dock, Belfast, Co. Antrim during the Belfast Blitz. He was the son of the late Samuel Gowan and Mary Gowan of 26 Castleview Road, Belfast, Co. Antrim.

On the night of 7th-8th April 1941, the Luftwaffe attacked the city in what would become known as The Docks Raid of the Belfast Blitz.

Samuel Hoy Gowan died on 8th April 1941 aged 35 years old. At his time of death, he was married to Margaret Gowan. His grave is in Section A2, Grave 72 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. His funeral took place on 10th April 1941.
