Firewatcher Samuel Hoy Gowan was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his wife Margaret Gowan at 26 Castleview Road, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.

He was the son of the late Samuel Gowan and Mary Gowan of 26 Castleview Road, Belfast. Samuel Hoy Gowan died on 8th April 1941 aged 35 years old at Pollock Dock, Belfast.

Samuel Hoy Gowan’s grave is in Section A2, Grave 72 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. A funeral service took place on 10th April 1941 from Messrs. Thomas Johnston’s Rest Room, 43 Bedford Street, Belfast.
