Flight Sergeant Pawel Kowalewicz (P-703968) served as a wireless radio operator in the Polish Air Force and is buried in Milltown Cemetery, West Belfast.

Flight Sergeant Pawel Kowalewicz (P-703968) served in the Polish Air Force during World War Two. Kowalewicz was born on 9th February 1917 in Piaski Stare (either near Krakow or Lodz), Poland. He trained in Poland as a wireless operator with the Polish Air Force.

Wellington HF208 Crash

Kowalewicz was the wireless operator on board Vickers Wellington HF208 attached to Royal Air Force 304 (Polish) Squadron. His last mission was on coastal command from RAF Predannack, Cornwall on 20th December 1943.

In bad weather, the plane crashed near Arraglen on Mount Brandon, Co. Kerry killing all six of the crew. Flight Sergeant Pawel Kowalewicz died aged 26 years old.
