Civilian Margaret Buick died on 14th March 1941 aged 9 years old. She was the daughter of Grace Buick of Clintyfinnan, Armoy, Co. Antrim.
Her death occurred at her home at 9 Kilmun Lane, Maryhill, Glasgow. Glasgow suffered a pair of devastating Luftwaffe attacks during the Clydebank Blitz on the evenings of 13th and 14th March 1941. A headstone in Glasgow Western Necropolis, Glasgow bears the inscription:
In loving memory of my dear mother Margaret Buick and nine other members of family killed in Blitz 14th March 1941.
The Margaret Buick on the headstone was the aunt of young Margaret. An uncle, James Buick, also died as a result of the attack. Her name is on the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour at St. George’s Chapel, Westminster Abbey, London.
