Flight Sergeant Kazimierz Lugowski (P-703438) served in the Polish Air Force during World War Two. Lugowski was born on 20th July 1920 in Chromna, Siedlce, Poland.
During the September 1939 Campaign in Poland, Lugowski became a Prisoner of War of the invading Soviet Forces. Eventually, he was released and made his way to the United Kingdom where he trained with the Royal Air Force.
Wellington HF208 Crash
He was an air gunner on board Vickers Wellington HF208 attached to Royal Air Force 304 (Polish) Squadron. His last operational flight was on coastal command from RAF Predannack, Cornwall on 20th December 1943.
After getting into difficulties in bad weather, the plane crashed near Arraglen on Mount Brandon, Co. Kerry killing all six of the crew. Flight Sergeant Kazimierz Lugowski died aged 23 years old.
