Seaman George Moore is one of the youngest serving wartime casualties remembered in Northern Ireland.

He served with the British Merchant Navy when he died on 21st June 1944. George was the son of Sarah Moore and grandson of George Thompson.

An inscription on the Thompson family plot in Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim reads:

George T Moore, MN who died 21st June 1944 aged 16 years. Interred in Blyibrahim British Military Cemetery, Algiers, North Africa.

This likely refers to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery at Dely Ibrahim, Algeria.
