Keady, Co. Armagh during the Second World War

During the Second World War, the Co. Armagh town of Keady was serviced by a railway line. It carried only goods not passengers making it ideal for military use.

On 24th February 1942, soldiers of 2/5th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers underwent rigorous training near Keady, Co. Armagh including cross-country exercises.
