Towards the end of the Second World War, Whitehead, Co. Antrim was home to soldiers of the newly-formed 3rd (Rumbeke) Infantry Brigade of the Belgian Army.

8th Railway Construction Company, Royal Engineers operated Armoured Trollies based at Whitehead Railway Station, Whitehead, Co. Antrim before 1944.

No. 14 Hospital Train

Whitehead Railway Station was home to No. 14 Hospital Train. It saw use in 1941 transporting German seamen rescued off Bismarck between Derry/Londonderry and Belfast.
