Some dedicated pupils and staff made their way through the rubble of the Belfast Blitz to attend classes at Belfast Royal Academy despite the damage caused.

Reports suggest that around eighty pupils made it to class on 16th April 1941 after the Belfast Blitz.

The school building survived relatively intact with only minor damage sustained to windows. The nearby St. James’ Church was completely destroyed apart from the spire.
