Ashbrooke House near Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh was home to 1st Battalion, 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division of the US Army in 1942.
Ashley Gardens, Bangor, Co. Down took a direct hit from a Luftwaffe bomb as the Nazi air force launched the Belfast Blitz on Easter Monday and Tuesday 1941.
Stabsgefreiter or Lance Corporal August Kreinbring served in the German Wehrmacht during the war. He was born in Bulzenow in Germany on 17th November 1915.

The Auxiliary Fire Service formed across the UK in 1938 as a response to the threat from the Luftwaffe. The AFS was invaluable to Belfast in the 1941 blitz.

On 6th March 1945, Avro Anson LV153 crashed at Mullaclogha Mountain in the Sperrin Mountains, Co. Tyrone killing 4 of the 5 crew members from the RAF.

On 2nd October 1942, American Flying Fortress B17 41-24451 took off from Gander, Newfoundland. The rookie crew would crash on Slieveanorra, Co. Antrim.
Ballyhalbert airfield operated as RAF Ballyhalbert, RNAS Ballyhalbert, and HMS Corncrake throughout World War Two between 1941 and its closure in mid-1946.
In 1944, Ballyholme Bay in Bangor was a hive of activity. Shipyards carried out work for the Admiralty and US Navy landing ship craft beached off the shore.
The Town Hall, Ballymena, Co. Antrim has stood at its present site since 1924. During World War Two, troops of the Belgian Army based nearby came to dance.
