'Rogue Warrior of the SAS: The Blair Mayne Legend' by Roy Bradford and Martin Dillon is a solid overview of the complex life and career of Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Blair Mayne. Bradford focuses on the military history and goes into great depth on some of the SAS missions and skirmishes. The authors have had great access to archives, documents, and interviews with veterans and family members.
There’s a lot packed into the 300+ pages. I feel several better books have been written about Paddy Mayne, and the inclusion of a post-script from Dillon “investigating” the Lieutenant-Colonel’s homosexuality is an irrelevant inclusion. ‘Rogue Warrior of the SAS: The Blair Mayne Legend by Roy Bradford and Martin Dillon was first published by Mainstream Publishing in 2012.
