Photos of the Belfast Blitz
Within the archives of The Linen Hall, Belfast is a leather-bound album containing a series of photos from across the city taken in the aftermath of the raids.
On 8th April 1941, the Ministry of Public Security and the Headquarters of the R.A.F. in Northern Ireland issued a joint statement regarding the Docks Raid.
A small force of enemy bombers, one of which was shot down over the sea by our night fighters and blew up in mid-air, attacked an area in Northern Ireland and caused some damage to industrial, commercial, and other property. Some casualties were unfortunately caused. Further details will be issued later in the day.
