Spitfire BM531 accident at Belfast, Co. Antrim

On 2nd September 1943, Polish pilot Flight Sergeant Malec escaped uninjured when his Spitfire BM531 sustained damage during transport to Northern Ireland.

On 2nd September 1943, Supermarine Spitfire BM531 PK-V sustained damage at Belfast, Co. Antrim. The Mark V fighter plane was on a transport ferry in the hands of a Polish fighter pilot.

The plane was involved in an incident on the ferry to Northern Ireland. The RAF had the plane written off after the accident. Polish Air Force pilot Flight Sergeant Jerzy Malec of RAF 315 (City of Deblin) Squadron escaped uninjured.
