Dufferin Coaching Inn: US Army in Co. Down

Along with Massive PR and Dufferin Coaching Inn, we looked at the land around Killyleagh, Co. Down where thousands of American troops trained during WWII.

Our friends at Massive Public Relations asked us to work with Dufferin Coaching Inn to highlight their local history. This beautiful example of rural Irish accommodation stands in the town of Killyleagh, Co. Down. American troops set up many camps in the area during wartime. There is where our story begins.

Northern Ireland has long been a favourite holiday destination with American visitors. County Down in particular, with its ocean views, rolling hills, and unspoiled scenery, draws tourists from across the world. In May 1942, Americans arrived en masse in County Down, but their visit was more for duty than pleasure.
